About the position

The Behavioral Health Tech - Psych position at Phoenix Children's Hospital involves providing developmental and psychosocial supervision, support, and treatment to patients. This role focuses on crisis management, group facilitation, and the implementation of trauma-informed care and behavioral management techniques to achieve desired treatment outcomes. The position requires active participation in a multi-disciplinary treatment team and involves both individual and group therapeutic interactions with patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapeutic interactions to patients.
  • Assist the treatment team in decision-making by sharing complete and appropriate information.
  • Identify and report pertinent behavioral, medical, and psychosocial data to the treatment team.
  • Provide continuous therapeutic care and observation to patients during daily routines.
  • Educate parents on behavioral and emotional support techniques.
  • Implement behavior management protocols safely and therapeutically.
  • Respond to crisis situations effectively to ensure patient safety.
  • Establish and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with patients and guardians.
  • Create and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Monitor vital signs as per policy.
  • Serve as a sitter for patients needing 1:1 supervision.
  • Plan, organize, and lead skills-based groups for patients.
  • Demonstrate effective group management and leadership skills.
  • Document patient progress and interventions accurately.
  • Actively participate in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring for ongoing staff development.

Requirements

  • Experience in behavioral health or a related field.
  • Ability to implement behavior management protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of crisis management techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with pediatric patients.
  • Certification in CPR or First Aid.
