About the position

Zenith Behavioral Health recognizes the growing need in Phoenix, Arizona for comprehensive evidence-based treatment. Our hospital provides intensive interventions for youth and adults with chronic and pervasive psychiatric and behavioral disorders, including substance abuse. Zenith's primary goal is to offer a safe and secure environment, while advancing their path towards wellness and recovery. The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a crucial role in providing patient care in a safe and secure environment. Reporting to the Milieu Manager, the BHT aids with daily living activities, focusing on supportive health and wellness, and assists patients with treatment goals and behavior management. This position involves monitoring and supervising patients both indoors and outdoors, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Essential duties include direct care, guidance, and protective oversight of patients. The BHT is responsible for providing a welcoming orientation of the unit environment and room assignment to patients, promoting a recovery-based approach to care that emphasizes hope, respect, self-direction, and empowerment. The BHT participates or conducts living skills or recreational activities and assists patients with daily tasks, such as cleaning personal rooms and common areas. Documentation of patient interactions is required on the electronic health record, including daily case notes on patients' progress or regression. Regular property and room searches are conducted to prevent unauthorized materials, and the BHT performs required bed checks, noting and overseeing sleep patterns. Any unusual occurrences or observations regarding patients' behavioral and physical health must be reported immediately to medical staff, the Milieu Manager, or the Clinical Director. The BHT also participates in crisis intervention as needed to ensure the safety of patients and others, assists with maintaining cleanliness in the assigned unit and common areas, and completes all training requirements and certifications to remain compliant. Regular participation in scheduled meetings is also expected, along with other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Complete all training requirements and certifications to remain compliant.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled meetings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one-year BHT experience in a behavioral health field or healthcare setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have a Level I AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card and be able to pass required clearances and background checks.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Current negative TB test.

  • Current Arizona Driver License.
  • Current, clean, 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
