About the position

Agape Detox Center is currently seeking dedicated Full Time and Part Time Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) for our detox facility located in Port St. Lucie, FL. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, the Behavioral Health Technician plays a crucial role in providing quality care for clients dealing with substance abuse issues and co-occurring disorders. This position involves providing structure and support services to the clinical team, ensuring that clients are supervised and actively participating in their treatment programs. The responsibilities of the Behavioral Health Technician are comprehensive and require adherence to established regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as State and Federal Regulations. Employees are expected to exercise significant initiative and independent judgment in their duties. Key responsibilities include learning and applying company policies and procedures effectively, demonstrating adaptability to changes in the work environment, and following Infection Control Guidelines at all times. In addition to monitoring and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for both staff and clients, the BHT will assist in emergency situations as directed and conduct necessary waived tests such as Urine Drug Screens and Breathalyzer tests, following all infectious control protocols. The technician is responsible for ensuring that clients adhere to their rules and responsibilities throughout the day, reporting any noncompliance to the Supervisor. Other duties include attending staff meetings and trainings, completing intakes when required, and maintaining confidentiality of client information and records. The BHT must also maintain a clean environment for clients during their shifts and ensure compliance with the agency's Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structure and support services for the clinical team treating adults with substance abuse diagnosis and/or co-occurring disorders.
  • Ensure client supervision and participation in services.
  • Learn and apply company policies and procedures quickly and effectively.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
  • Follow Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
  • Complete and forward Incident Reports and safety/risk issues to the BHT Supervisor.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and clients.
  • Assist in emergency situations as directed.
  • Conduct waived tests as required, following infectious control protocols.
  • Ensure clients' rules and responsibilities are being followed throughout the day.
  • Report noncompliance to Supervisor.
  • Direct and monitor clients.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Complete intakes when required.
  • Notify the Director of Operations of any problems or issues with clients or staff members.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and records.
  • Maintain supply list for assigned buildings as requested.
  • Maintain a clean environment for clients during shifts.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and internal communications.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in a healthcare facility.
  • Knowledge of facility and housekeeping department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use universal precautions when cleaning specific areas.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Ability to work independently in assigned areas.
