About the position
The Behavioral Health Technician plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care for individuals with addiction, behavioral issues, or mental health challenges. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the technician ensures a safe and supportive environment, actively engages with patients, and addresses significant care issues as they arise. This position is essential in promoting patient well-being and collaborating with healthcare teams to deliver quality care.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care activities for patients with addiction and behavioral problems.
- Provide positive interactions and maintain a safe environment to maximize patient well-being.
- Notify the manager of any significant patient care issues.
- Work in cooperation with other healthcare providers to ensure quality and safe care to patients.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Minimum of one-year college experience in Behavioral Health, Allied Health, Psychology, or a related field.
- At least one year of Behavioral Health Technician experience or applicable experience such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
- Two or more years of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in an inpatient psychiatric or addiction medicine setting preferred.
- Ability to physically manage patients safely and therapeutically.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, providing comfort and support.
- Analytical skills to assess patients and gather relevant data for care.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a psychiatric or addiction medicine setting.
- Additional certifications in behavioral health or related fields.
