About the position

The Behavioral Health Technician at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital is responsible for providing direct patient care to individuals with addiction, behavioral issues, or mental health challenges. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the technician ensures a safe and supportive environment for patients, while actively engaging with them to promote their well-being. The role involves monitoring patient conditions, reporting significant issues to management, and collaborating with healthcare teams to deliver quality care.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care activities for patients with addiction and behavioral problems.
• Provide positive interactions and maintain a safe environment to maximize patient well-being.
• Notify the manager of any significant patient care issues.
• Assist in the physical management of patients when necessary in a safe and therapeutic manner.
• Gather and assess data relevant to patient care in cooperation with other healthcare providers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum of one-year college experience in Behavioral Health, Allied Health, Psychology, or a related field, or one year of Behavioral Health Technician experience.
• Ability to physically manage patients safely and therapeutically.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients.
• Analytical skills to assess patients and gather relevant data.

Nice-to-haves

• Two or more years of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in an inpatient psychiatric or addiction medicine setting.
