About the position

The Behavioral Healthcare Provider 2 position is a full-time role focused on providing mental health services within the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. The role involves conducting mental health evaluations, crisis services, and clinical case management for inmates, ensuring compliance with treatment plans, and coordinating with treatment teams and community agencies. The position requires a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and offers a starting salary of approximately $65,000, along with eligibility for federal loan forgiveness programs.

Responsibilities

  • Completes detailed screens, mental health evaluations, and crisis services including suicide watch assessments.
  • Provides clinical direction to lower-level workers and may serve as treatment team coordinator.
  • Conducts advanced practice individual and group clinical interventions as prescribed on the individual mental health treatment plan.
  • Provides clinical case management services to an assigned caseload, monitoring offender compliance with the mental health treatment plan.
  • Completes psychosocial needs and treatment assessments as part of interdisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Completes transfer and discharge summaries.
  • Consults with other institution staff regarding the mental health caseload inmate's institutional adjustment and service needs.
  • Initiates and maintains contact with families and community agencies.
  • Provides and seeks information relative to patient care and treatment.
  • Makes appropriate community and re-entry referrals, per mental health treatment team.
  • Writes reports or documentation including clinical case management progress notes and discharge plans.
  • Attends meetings with supervision and participates in in-service training sessions for professional development.
  • Participates in peer review as assigned.

Requirements

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Experience in discharge planning and child & family counseling.
