About the position

The Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) plays a crucial role in providing supportive advocacy to patients and their families as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. This position is designed to help patients overcome barriers to their progression of care, particularly focusing on those who are chronically ill. The BHC will work closely with healthcare providers, nurse care managers, case management, and other staff at CoxHealth to ensure a patient-centered approach in coordinating healthcare needs and wellness goals. The BHC's responsibilities include assisting patients in managing behaviors that affect their health, thereby promoting better health outcomes and enhancing the overall patient experience. In this role, the BHC will engage with patients to understand their unique challenges and work collaboratively to develop strategies that facilitate their health management. This may involve direct interaction with patients, conducting assessments, and providing education on behavioral health issues. The BHC will also be responsible for documenting patient interactions and progress in electronic health records, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date. The position may also include the provision of integrated behavioral healthcare services through telehealth communications, depending on the specific needs of the patients and the healthcare team. The BHC is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while fostering a supportive environment for patients.
