About the position

The Behavioral Instructor at Methodist Family Health is responsible for providing academic assistance and support to patients, particularly focusing on at-risk youth. This role involves developing structured activity schedules, crisis intervention, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The instructor works closely with patients, their families, and other staff to implement individualized behavioral plans and promote skill development in various areas.

Responsibilities

  • Provides or coordinates academic assistance to patients and works closely with the Education Instructor(s)/Teacher(s).
  • Develops and monitors activities and homework assignments, especially on weekends.
  • Assists with patient intake and documentation.
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • Develops and implements a structured activity schedule for day-to-day activities.
  • Maintains documentation concerning patient and program areas, including Critical Incident Reports and Observation Forms.
  • Works closely with patients' parents, teachers, social workers, and significant others to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Assists in preparation and compliance with Department of Health, Medicaid, and JCAHO standards.
  • Attends regular staff meetings and acknowledges reading provided materials.
  • Physically capable of restraining patients if necessary, following Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
  • Ensures the patient area is clean and compliant with licensing and health standards.
  • Teaches patients a curriculum of skills in social, self-help, independent living, maintenance, and academic areas.
  • Implements individualized behavioral plans of care for each patient as designated in their treatment plan.
  • Maintains program records such as Point Cards and Tally-Up Sheets.
  • Assists in behavioral assessment and treatment planning, including required documentation.

Requirements

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • A minimum of 60 college hours or at least 10 years of verifiable continuous mental health experience with no more than two employers.
  • Ability to document accurately and professionally.
  • Ability to understand and implement extensive training for patient care programs.
  • Physical capability to perform demands required by Crisis Prevention Intervention.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth or populations with special needs preferred.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Possess or able to obtain a valid Arkansas Driver's License.
