About the position

The Behavioral School Support Aide will work closely with clients and families in a school setting, providing support and implementing rehabilitation activities as outlined in clients' rehabilitation plans. This role involves direct interaction with clients, advocating for their needs, and collaborating with therapists and school officials to develop and achieve specific goals. The position requires a commitment to fostering healthy reintegration into the community through various therapeutic interventions and recreational projects.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with clients and families to provide support.
• Manage symptoms and advocate for families.
• Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
• Conduct home visits as needed.
• Collaborate with therapists, school officials, and interdisciplinary teams to develop goals and objectives.
• Implement goals and objectives outlined in rehabilitation plans.
• Develop recreational projects for youths and families.
• Write progress notes summarizing each client contact.
• Assist clients with age-appropriate self-care skills, social skills, and independent living skills.
• Support clients in community integration activities and maintaining personal safety.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma with 4 years of experience working with mentally and emotionally disturbed youth and adults, or a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or Psychology.
• 1 year of work experience in a supervised mental health or school setting.
• Ability to provide therapeutic interventions and good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to deal constructively with conflict and plan, coordinate, and direct complex operations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in special education (1 year preferred).
• Experience in childcare (1 year preferred).
