About the position

The Behavioral Technician and Driver position at New Chapter involves providing direct care to clients in a faith-based recovery setting. The role includes attending group therapy sessions, driving clients to and from the facility, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both clients and their families. The technician will also assist in crisis intervention and case management, while collaborating with various stakeholders in the recovery process.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and oversee clients in group therapy and during educational sessions.
  • Provide direct care to clients by attending all group therapy sessions with them.
  • Drive facility van to pick up clients from home or school and return them after treatment.
  • Respond effectively if a client poses a danger to themselves or others.
  • Assist with applying anger de-escalation techniques when needed.
  • Collect and record data on patient behavior as required.
  • Collaborate and communicate with teachers, counselors, supervisors, clinical director, clients, and parents as requested.
  • Help with case management and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for clients and families.
  • Carry out some administrative duties as assigned.
  • Run groups when applicable and needed.
  • Work with adolescents and adult clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in behavioral health or related field, or certification in behavioral health and substance use.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license in NJ.
  • 1 year of experience as a Behavioral Technician or in a similar role.
  • Active First Aid certification.
  • Physical capability to intervene and lift or carry patients when necessary.
  • Good communication skills.

  • Prioritization and delegation skills.

Benefits

  • Full-time salary of $37,440 per year.
  • Monday to Friday work schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with a half-hour unpaid lunch.
