About the position

The Behavioral Technician at Winchester Public Schools is a paraprofessional role focused on implementing student-specific behavior management and support services under the supervision of the special education department. This position is essential for assisting students in achieving their behavioral goals and ensuring a conducive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement student-specific behavior management/support plans under the supervision of the BCBA, Principal, and in consultation with the classroom teacher.
• Assist classroom teacher in gathering data specific to the student-specific goals for assigned students.
• Work with assigned students to reinforce material introduced by teacher.
• Assist assigned students with self-regulation during large and small group activities.
• Provide daily updates on assigned students' progress toward mastery of behavioral goals.
• Provide redirection to assigned students when behavior affects the student's learning or learning of others.
• Supervise assigned students during unstructured time such as lunch and recess.
• Coordinate with school and division teams to support comprehensive behavioral programming.
• Perform related work as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Some experience in working with children - required.
• Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility; or an Associate's Degree; or successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment.
• Behavioral training, not limited to certification as a Registered Behavior Technician, is preferred.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
