About the position

The Bench Sales Manager at MHG Hotels is responsible for leading and developing proactive sales efforts across various market segments, including group business, leisure, social, military, educational, religious, fraternal, and sports. This role focuses on maximizing hotel profitability and maintaining customer satisfaction through effective sales strategies, advertising, and promotional initiatives. The position requires achieving budgeted revenue expectations for multiple hotel locations while ensuring a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop proactive sales efforts with various market segments.
  • Drive sales to exceed 100% RGI and achieve budgeted total hotel revenue expectations.
  • Handle inquiry calls and monitor the flow of paperwork for confirming function details.
  • Solicit new and repeat guest room and event business.
  • Maintain a client base of key accounts and conventions.
  • Conduct outside sales calls and phone solicitations to obtain business.
  • Perform on-site inspections to book business.
  • Evaluate potential business opportunities for profitability and overall benefit to the hotel.
  • Represent the hotel in community affairs and industry-related events.
  • Maintain accurate sales records, databases, and reports to enhance service quality.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of hotel experience required.
  • Demonstrated excellent selling skills.
  • Knowledge of group, SMERF, sports, FIT, and leisure segments.
  • Ability to meet or exceed pre-determined booking goals for guest room revenue.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in advertising and promotional activities.
  • General idea of the STR Report and other key industry metrics.
