About the position

The Database Architect will join Lallemand's global cross-functional Data Science team in Corporate R&D, where they will work in interdisciplinary collaborations to support Lallemand's diverse product portfolio of yeast, fungi, and bacteria. Specifically, the Database Architect will serve as the technical owner and designer of a Benchling software product that serves as the central database for our strain culture collection and R&D results generated within the Corporate entity. You will be responsible for the active maintenance, improvement, and expansion of the Benchling platform at Lallemand through several activities. This includes ongoing review and improvement of the existing Corporate R&D data model, consultation with groups across Lallemand about their database and data analytics needs, and monthly coordination of the Benchling leads from different R&D sites to prioritize and execute data management and database administrative tasks. Additionally, you will be expected to respond promptly to internal help requests and platform troubleshooting, including redirecting users to the Benchling help desk or internal SMEs as needed, and faithfully documenting issue resolution. Custom configuration of Benchling to capture more categories of data (in-house implementation) will also be part of your responsibilities, including the expansion of the platform to use cases outside of Corporate R&D. You will need to conduct needs-based mapping of potential data systems integrations with other company data sources, train and onboard new hires to Benchling, and manage the Benchling account relationship while keeping Lallemand users up to date about upgrades and new feature releases.
