About the position

The Benefit Transfers Carrier Onboarding Specialist at Gusto is responsible for facilitating the transition of customers from their current brokers to Gusto's services. This role involves acting as the primary point of contact for gathering essential documents from carriers, which is crucial for the Broker of Record (BoR) processing. The Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the customer experience and improving operational efficiency within the benefit transfer process.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison with carriers and collaborate with their representatives to gather essential information through phone, email, or carrier portals.
• Effectively manage time across each carrier group to prioritize tasks appropriately.
• Identify and communicate compliance issues, bringing any carrier or product limitations to the team's attention.
• Manage benefit operations by transferring health insurance benefits through forms and carrier portals.
• Help scale health benefits operations and improve processes by uncovering issues and finding innovative solutions.

Requirements

• 0-1 years of experience, preferably in healthcare, insurance carriers, or start-ups.
• Comfortable with data entry and interacting with external company contacts.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and adept at navigating ambiguity.
• Excellent cross-team communication skills and a genuine passion for operations that enhance people's lives.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on engaging with insurance carriers and customers.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently, consistently aiming for team and individual goals.
