About the position

The position involves administering a range of employee benefits at OhioGuidestone, including retirement plans, life insurance, disability insurance, and other employee-related programs. The role requires assisting in the development and implementation of communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits options, supporting open enrollment processes, and addressing any benefits-related issues or discrepancies in a timely manner. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of OhioGuidestone every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.
  • Administer a range of employee benefits, including retirement plans, life insurance, disability insurance, and other employee related programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits options.
  • Support open enrollment processes, including conducting information sessions and distributing materials.
  • Address and resolve any benefits-related issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with effective employee orientation program by presenting Benefits information and answering questions of new employees.
  • Oversee daily operations of retirement plan, including enrollment, contribution processing, loan processing, distribution requests, and participant account management.
  • Ensure the plans comply with ERISA, IRS, DOL, and other regulatory agencies' requirements.
  • Prepare and file required reports, including annual Form 5500 filings, IRS compliance testing, and nondiscrimination testing.
  • Collaborate with auditors, third-party administrators, and legal counsel to ensure all necessary filings and disclosures are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure that leave programs and policies are interpreted and administered in accordance with applicable federal and state employment laws.
  • Manage STD/LTD programs and vendor relationships.
  • Explain leave policies and procedures to employees and managers; provide assistance throughout the duration of the leave.
  • Administer workers compensation program and conduct investigations on accidents; prepare/present injury reports.
  • Administer and manage unemployment claims from initial filing through resolution.
  • Respond to state unemployment agencies' requests for information.
  • Investigate and verify the accuracy of claims, including employee separation details and reason for unemployment.
  • Prepare documentation and evidence for contested claims.
  • Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership, promote an inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • 3+ Years' experience in benefits administration.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory framework governing benefits and HR including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and benefits-related DOL and IRS regulations.
  • Specific experience in retirement plan administration, leave of absence and ADA administration, workers compensation, and unemployment.
