Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary university contact for all ADA-related inquiries and requests for accommodations.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of ADA accommodation requests, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and university policies.
  • Facilitate interactive process meetings with employees and managers to explore and implement effective accommodation.
  • Review medical documentation and collaborate with healthcare providers or authorized representatives as necessary to determine appropriate accommodation.
  • Provide guidance to managers and departments on ADA compliance, reasonable accommodations, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with ADA regulations and university policies.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to ADA and related employment laws.
  • Assist with training and guidance to employees and management on ADA compliance and related HR policies.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating university policies and procedures related to ADA.
  • May assist the Benefits team on a range of responsibilities including but not limited to FMLA, Military Leave, Unemployment, and Workers' Compensation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources, public administration, legal studies, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in professional level customer service, ADA compliance, disability services, Human Resources or related area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Rehabilitation Act and other relevant regulations.
  • Experience conducting interactive processes and evaluating reasonable accommodations.
  • Previous experience working in higher education.
