About the position

The Benefits Coordinator (Bilingual) at Casa Marianella plays a crucial role in improving health outcomes for displaced immigrants and the Austin community. This position involves providing assistance in navigating bureaucratic systems to access essential services such as health care, food assistance, and rental relief. The coordinator will work closely with clients to assess their needs, inform them of available benefits, and ensure successful enrollment in various programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assess needs of clients and screen them for benefit program eligibility
  • Inform clients of health benefit options, gather eligibility documents and apply to programs
  • Follow up with clients to ensure timely and successful enrollment
  • Track client information and submit routine reports and outcome data
  • Collaborate with other Benefits Coordinators, shelter staff, and Case Managers to better serve shelter residents and promote self-sufficiency
  • Attend and participate in training and weekly staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, Portuguese, or another language spoken by our client population
  • Passion for social justice
  • Experience working with immigrant communities preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, especially with clients across different languages and cultures
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and commitment to problem-solve when challenges arise
  • Prior knowledge of social assistance programs preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Google Suite Software
