About the position

The Agency Benefits Coordinator is responsible for managing employee benefits, including resignation, retirement, and leave of absence processes. This role involves acting as the Agency Leave of Absence Coordinator, conducting benefit orientations for new hires, maintaining employee benefit files, and ensuring compliance with city health plans. The position requires effective communication with employees regarding their benefits and coordinating various benefit-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Agency Leave of Absence Coordinator and process all leave-related paperwork.
  • Conduct benefit orientation for new hires.
  • Maintain employees' benefit files.
  • Ensure employees are enrolled in city benefits or opt to waive them.
  • Notify employees of any changes to City health plans and/or other benefit plans.
  • Answer questions regarding City health benefits or other City benefits.
  • Coordinate Agency Blood Drives.
  • Notify employees of the Health Benefits open enrollment period.
  • Coordinate quarterly seminars for Deferred Compensation Plans and NYCERS.
  • Liaise with the Management Benefits Fund regarding employee separations and reinstatements.
  • Process retirement applications and related documents for employees.
  • Inform eligible employees about the Voluntary Defined Contribution program and assist with forms.
  • Act as the agency's Catastrophic and Dedicated Sick Leave Coordinator.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in relevant fields or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • A baccalaureate degree and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in relevant areas.
  • An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience.
  • A four-year high school diploma and six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience.
  • A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
