About the position

As a Benefits Coordinator at Garney Construction in North Kansas City, you will play a crucial role in managing employee benefits by collaborating with human resources and payroll departments. Your responsibilities will include processing enrollments, developing training materials, generating reports, and addressing employee inquiries regarding benefits. Responsibilities

  • Process enrollments, including benefits and updating beneficiary coverage.
  • Develop training materials and translations for benefit-related documents.
  • Generate new enrollment reports to ensure benefits changes are accurately reflected in the payroll system.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly/monthly reports on employee ownership, new hires, absenteeism, and other requested reports.
  • Coordinate distribution of packages containing weekly benefits information and eligibility criteria.
  • Ensure timely distribution of required employee notices.
  • Organize and conduct meetings to educate employees on company benefits.
  • Monitor and address employee inquiries via phone and email, managing the benefits inbox.
  • Collaborate with payroll, HRIS, and employee services departments.
  • Create and assemble ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) and open enrollment packets.
  • Provide assistance with claims issues.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding FMLA rights and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to FMLA requests and approvals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or 4-5 years of benefit experience, preferably on the employer side, not from a carrier.
  • Extensive proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits regulations and compliance, including FMLA.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software.
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English.
