About the position

The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for administering all benefit programs within the company, ensuring compliance with various regulations and maintaining cost-effective, streamlined processes. This role involves developing communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits and overseeing the administration of the 401(k) plan and other employee benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all benefit programs including Section 125, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, Wellness Initiatives, 401(k) Plan, ACA processing, and EAP.
  • Develop strategic benefit packages in collaboration with brokers and vendors.
  • Act as a liaison between benefit plan vendors and employees to resolve issues.
  • Process employee separations, cancel applicable benefit coverage, and manage COBRA as needed.
  • Process monthly vendor billings, prepare reports, and audit in-house records against vendor files.
  • Administer the disability program and verify employee disability payments.
  • Maintain flexible spending and HSA plans, and administer plan changes.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and adherence to benefit paperwork retention and basic benefit law.
  • Process Medical Support notices and quarterly 401(k) enrollments, including 5500 tax preparations and educational outreach.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience as a Benefit Coordinator or in a Human Resources department administering corporate benefits.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision and follow established guidelines.
  • Ability to handle multi-task responsibilities and work with people at multiple levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with benefit program administration in a corporate setting.
