About the position

The Benefits Coordinator at Jemez Health & Human Services is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of services related to patient benefits, including contract health, medical records, and clinic administration. This part-time position requires a strong background in patient benefits administration and aims to assist community members in navigating various health benefits and eligibility criteria.

Responsibilities

• Define alternate resources available to patient's eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Administration, and other applicable resources.
• Contact alternate resource agencies and conduct personal interviews with patients and/or family members to determine potential eligibility.
• Educate community members on various benefits and eligibility criteria.
• Assist patients in filling out proper third-party online resource applications and follow up on re-certification needs.
• Advocate on behalf of community members regarding their benefits.
• Educate staff of tribal departments and provide technical assistance to enhance their knowledge about benefits.
• Serve as a liaison between the community and various health and social service agencies.
• Maintain health records forms, authorizations, and eligibility forms for patients.
• Gather and compile information needed for third-party billing purposes.
• Plan and carry out office work while handling problems according to established policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of office support and administrative experience.
• Minimum two years of experience related to patient benefits administration and/or processing.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Towa language is encouraged.
• Experience with IHS Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS).
