About the position

The Benefits Coordinator at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is responsible for administering and overseeing employee and student benefits programs. This role involves managing various benefit programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supervising benefits representatives. The coordinator works closely with human resources, finance, and senior management to align benefits programs with the organization's objectives and budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate various benefit programs such as health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and other supplemental benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for benefit-related issues.
  • Develop and implement employee communication strategies to promote awareness and understanding of benefit programs.
  • Coordinate new employee and annual enrollment benefit orientation sessions.
  • Conduct benefit orientation sessions as needed and organize benefit education programs, seminars, and workshops.
  • Oversee the benefits administration portal and benefits website.
  • Prepare and distribute benefits-related materials, such as benefits guides, handbooks, brochures, and newsletters.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers, third-party administrators, and other benefits vendors.
  • Manage vendor contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality of services.
  • Process employee enrollment changes and terminations in benefits plans with vendors.
  • Audit plans and review discrepancy reports to maintain accurate benefit records and employee data.
  • Prepare reports and analyze data related to benefit plans, contributions, and participation rates.
  • Analyze and recommend new benefit programs or changes to existing ones.
  • Assist with the recruitment, screening, and evaluation of new benefits team members.
  • Supervise and manage a team of benefits employees, providing training, guidance, and oversight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or closely related field.
  • At least two years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or similar role.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal relations and customer service skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse individuals.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years experience with direct supervision.
