About the position

As the Benefits Coordinator at Turning Stone Enterprises, you will be responsible for managing and administering team member benefit programs. This role involves educating team members about their benefits, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and maintaining accurate records of enrollments and claims. You will also coordinate workers' compensation claims and assist in various compliance activities, all while fostering a supportive and informative environment for team members.

Responsibilities

  • Administer team member benefit programs including group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
  • Provide team members with an explanation of benefits to ensure understanding of available benefits, eligibility, enrollment, and claims procedures.
  • Conduct benefit orientation, enrollment meetings, and information sessions, and be available to answer team member questions regarding benefits throughout the employment cycle.
  • Ensure proper and timely processing of eligibility, enrollments, and cancellations of all benefit plans in appropriate systems.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all summary plan descriptions, regulatory and legal standards, and ensure compliance with ERISA, FMLA, ACA, ADA, HIPAA privacy laws, and NYS Disability and PFL guidelines.
  • Conduct and review hours reporting to ensure compliance with ACA.
  • Regularly audit benefit enrollments to ensure accuracy of benefit levels, premiums, and contributions.
  • Monitor and respond to error files/notifications.
  • Track team member plan contributions in arrears and ensure appropriate correspondence and collection of payments due.
  • Ensure all benefit collateral is accurate.
  • Assist in annual compliance activities including discrimination testing, filings, and audits.
  • Verify the calculation of monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrator and follow up on claims and processing of incident reports.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of team member benefit plans and relevant laws.
  • Experience with situational application of benefit plan documents and regulations.
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to work independently and produce accurate work; highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidential information.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 2 years of previous work experience in human resources office responsible for benefit administration.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field with HR courses.
  • Experience with UKG/UltiPro.
