About the position

The Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role within the HR team, focusing on benefits administration, leave of absence management, and general HR functions. This position serves as a primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations related to leaves of absence. The coordinator will also assist in various administrative tasks, including record keeping, reporting, and supporting the annual open enrollment process.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all administrative tasks related to leaves of absence for a multi-state company.
  • Coordinate paperwork for leaves of absence, including FMLA, State Paid Family Leaves, Short-Term & Long-Term Disability.
  • Act as one of the first points of contact for employee questions regarding benefits and leaves of absence.
  • Assist with all administrative tasks related to medical and voluntary benefits and leaves of absence.
  • Help resolve billing and coverage issues and inquiries.
  • Participate in new hire benefits orientation and collaborate with the team to improve the program.
  • Communicate benefit offerings and online enrollment processes with newly eligible employees.
  • Maintain and update electronic employee records and benefit files.
  • Assist with billing reconciliation and monthly auditing processes.
  • Coordinate the annual open enrollment process for benefits.
  • Assist with processing 401k enrollments and contributions.
  • Support other benefit-related projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding leaves of absence.
  • Experience with benefits administration.
  • Understanding of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • High degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to complete projects with limited supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
