About the position

The Benefits Coordinator at the Department of Revenue's Human Resources Bureau is responsible for managing the onboarding process for new employees and serving as the primary liaison with the Group Insurance Commission (GIC) for health and insurance benefits. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively. The Benefits Coordinator also supports the administration of various leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, organize, and conduct weekly new employee orientation sessions.
  • Verify employment authorization of new hires by completing I-9 forms and processing E-Verify cases.
  • Process completed onboarding documentation and disburse to appropriate parties, including the DOR Payroll Department and the GIC.
  • Provide technical assistance in the administration of DOR's benefits, including health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance.
  • Monitor employee leave requests and provide information to WorkPartners in accordance with regulations and agreements.
  • Track and monitor family medical leave requests and workers' compensation leaves.
  • Assist in the workers' compensation claims process as the Workers' Compensation Agent/Liaison.

Requirements

  • At least three years of full-time professional experience in human resources work, or equivalent part-time experience.
  • An Associate's degree may substitute for a maximum of one year of required experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree may substitute for a maximum of two years of required experience.
  • A Graduate degree in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Administration, or Public Administration may substitute for the required experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll systems and employee records management.
  • Familiarity with leave of absence programs and related regulations.
