About the position

The Benefits & Leaves Coordinator at the Department of Revenue's Human Resources Bureau is responsible for managing the onboarding process for new employees and serving as the primary liaison for the Group Insurance Commission (GIC). This role involves processing and verifying enrollments and changes in various employee benefits, as well as administering leave of absence programs. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, along with some prior human resources experience.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, organize, and conduct weekly new employee orientation sessions.
  • Verify employment authorization of new hires by completing I-9 forms and processing E-Verify cases.
  • Process completed onboarding documentation and disburse to appropriate parties, including the DOR Payroll Department and the GIC.
  • Provide technical assistance in the administration of DOR's benefits, including health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance.
  • Monitor employee leave requests and provide information to WorkPartners in accordance with federal/state regulations.
  • Track and monitor family medical leave requests and workers' compensation leaves.
  • Assist in the workers' compensation claims process as the Workers' Compensation Agent/Liaison.

Requirements

  • At least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time professional experience in human resources work.
  • An Associate's degree may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.
  • A Graduate degree in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Administration, or Public Administration may be substituted for the required experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll systems and employee records management.
  • Familiarity with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other leave regulations.
