About the position

The Benefits/Payroll Coordinator is a temporary, part-time role focused on administering employee benefits programs and processing payroll for over 300 employees at Notre Dame Health Care. This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual who will work closely with the HR and A/P departments to ensure accurate management of employee benefits and compensation in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans.
  • Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries, claims, and enrollment.
  • Ensure timely communication of benefits offerings, changes, and updates.
  • Coordinate open enrollment processes and assist with plan selection.
  • Process payroll for employees in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Process employee status changes and respond to payroll inquiries from employees.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to payroll and benefits administration.
  • Prepare and submit reports related to payroll and benefits, and reconcile monthly benefit bills.
  • Support the completion of audits, including internal audits or audits from regulatory agencies.
  • File all employee documents within personnel files.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll, benefits, and HR-related questions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in benefits administration, payroll processing, or related HR functions.
  • Knowledge of benefits programs, payroll systems, and compliance regulations.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll software (e.g., Paylocity, ADP).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
