About the position

The Benefits Reporting Analyst is responsible for providing professional support in the Human Resources department, specifically focusing on benefits reporting and compliance. This role involves producing, auditing, and submitting reports related to employee benefit programs, ensuring adherence to state requirements, and managing data discrepancies. The analyst will work closely with HRIS systems to enhance reporting capabilities and support the overall benefits administration process.

Responsibilities

  • Produces, audits, and submits reports required by benefit programs administered by the State of Texas, ensuring compliance with TRS and ERS requirements.
  • Runs reports from the HRIS system to audit benefits enrollment and financial data, identifying and correcting discrepancies.
  • Ensures that employees experiencing classification changes impacting benefits eligibility are accurately reported and data changes are addressed.
  • Manages reporting related to concurrent employment that may affect benefits eligibility.
  • Works with HRIS to identify reporting needs and enhancements.
  • Reviews and corrects errors in census/demographic reports to ensure compliance with plan administrators.
  • Prepares government filings, plan audits, and other compliance requirements.
  • Assists the Benefits HR Specialist and supports Payroll during open enrollment for yearly benefit changes.
  • Handles benefits-related inquiries and general benefits administration.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with reporting and analysis associated with employee benefit plans.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and running queries and reports.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build constructive relationships using diplomacy and tact.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with benefit programs administered by TRS and ERS.
  • Knowledge of federal and statutory laws including ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, EEO, ADA, ACA, and HIPAA.
  • Experience leading efforts to ensure compliance with ACA reporting requirements.
