About the position

The Benefits Representative at ProMedica is responsible for managing and administering employee benefit offerings, ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements, and serving as a resource for employees and leadership. This role involves liaising with insurance providers, managing benefit administration processes, and developing educational materials on benefits-related topics.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of ProMedica's employee benefit offerings and eligibility requirements.
• Manages benefit administration processes, entering information into the benefits enrollment system to meet critical deadlines.
• Handles monthly billing and counsels employees on benefits, responding to inquiries and resolving problems.
• Assists with the development, planning, and implementation of benefits-related activities such as annual open enrollment.
• Establishes collaborative relationships with business unit leadership and HR employees to achieve organizational goals.
• Interprets policies and plan documents regarding benefits to ensure appropriate handling of situations.
• Reviews and verifies documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance, maintaining comprehensive files.
• Maintains departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
• Develops and presents educational materials on benefits-related topics to various audiences.
• Represents human resources on councils and committees as assigned.
• Participates in or coordinates projects and analytical tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years documented experience as a benefit administrator or specialist).
• Previous experience in human resources/benefits specialty preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office applications.
• Demonstrates principles of customer service in difficult situations.
• Respects and actively supports the contributions and diversity of all team members.
