About the position

The Benefits Specialist at Bellin Health is responsible for coordinating the administration of employee benefit programs, including health and dental coverage, life insurance, and disability insurance. This role involves consulting with employees regarding their benefits, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with benefit laws. The position requires strong communication skills to educate employees about their options and assist them with claims and enrollment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and inform employees of rights and options under various benefit plans.
  • Provide individual consultations for employees anticipating retirement and assist beneficiaries upon employees' deaths.
  • Develop and conduct new employee orientations regarding benefits.
  • Coordinate writing and distribution of summary plan descriptions with insurance carriers.
  • Oversee third-party administrator for processing Medical Reimbursement and Dependent Care Reimbursement accounts.
  • Enroll new employees in elected benefits and establish payroll deductions.
  • Provide terminating employees with COBRA notices and assist them in understanding their rights.
  • Work directly with carriers to resolve coverage and benefit problems.
  • Audit monthly invoices from carriers for accuracy and submit to Accounts Payable.
  • Assist in the implementation of new benefit programs and changes in carriers.
  • Keep current on benefit law updates and implement necessary changes.
  • Coordinate the annual open enrollment process and develop communication materials.
  • Serve on committees to facilitate communication within HR and related departments.
  • Support retirement plan administration and assist with employee questions regarding distributions.
  • Adhere to regular and predictable attendance.
  • Assist in special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources.
  • 3-4 years of experience in Human Resources or 3 years of relevant work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Lawson payroll system.
  • Knowledge of benefit laws and compliance.
