About the position

The Benefits & Student Health Coordinator at the University of Oklahoma is responsible for administering the student health plan, providing customer service to students, and managing payroll deductions related to the health plan. This role also supports the administration of employee benefits and involves various tasks such as monitoring student health inquiries, determining eligibility, and conducting benefits counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor email inbox and respond to student health questions.
  • Serve as the customer service point of contact for the student health plan.
  • Determine student eligibility and facilitate enrollment in the student health plan.
  • Send daily/weekly files to the Bursar for health premiums.
  • Set up payroll deductions for dependents.
  • Calculate and submit non-cash benefit tax files to payroll.
  • Pull weekly student health plan claims and submit to Finance for payment.
  • Track student health plan claims in a spreadsheet.
  • Aid in tracking the student health plan self-insured account.
  • Process and verify data to maintain accurate health coverage records.
  • Conduct one-on-one benefits counseling with Staff, Faculty, and Students.
  • Complete paperwork regarding child support enforcement and answer inquiries about child insurance benefits.
  • Conduct benefits and student health plan orientation presentations.
  • Monitor and update coverage and correct charges for Faculty, Staff, and Students, and their dependents.
  • Assist with retirement as needed during peak times.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 12 months of Human Resources, Benefits, or related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Detail-oriented for accuracy of data and information.
  • Ability to conduct employee presentations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in computing complex payroll deductions and adjustments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to build and manipulate spreadsheets.
