About the position

The Berea Corps Continuous Improvement Associate will support various departments at Berea College in identifying and eliminating waste from daily activities, enhancing effectiveness and efficiency. This role involves rigorous training in Lean Continuous Improvement methodologies applicable to both manufacturing and business processes. The associate will assist departments in continuous improvement projects and help individuals achieve Lean Green Belt certification, acting as both a project team member and leader.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Berea College Office of Continuous Improvement in leading continuous improvement efforts across the college.
  • Document continuous improvement processes and projects, including data collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Learn and teach the fundamental principles of continuous improvement across campus settings.
  • Develop marketing content and maintain the webpage for the Office of Continuous Improvement.
  • Conduct independent research for solutions and process options for stakeholders.
  • Inspire project participants to seek change and eliminate waste from processes.
  • Lead process mapping events to reduce non-value-added efforts and costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from Berea College with a graduation date in 2023 or 2024.
  • Lean Green Belt certification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Lean in a practical application on Berea College's campus is strongly preferred.
  • Previous exposure to Lean or Continuous Improvement techniques or theory is strongly preferred.
  • Experience presenting to groups is a plus; desire to develop this skill is required.
  • Understanding and experience in data analysis.
  • Ability to visually and orally present and explain findings, trends, and metrics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written, and visualization) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Canva is preferred.
  • Experience managing social media accounts is preferred.
  • Experience with Qualtrics, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
