About the position

Join the Johnson Controls team as part of our Early Career Sales Engineering (BEST) Program, a 6-month technical sales development initiative designed for recent college graduates. This program focuses on creating market share by strategically selling Johnson Controls' Fire products and services to commercial customers. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical engineering knowledge and business acumen to understand customer needs and become a subject matter expert in our offerings. Throughout the program, you will engage in a comprehensive training experience that includes classroom instruction, field orientation, and hands-on job training. You will learn about our mechanical equipment and service offerings, develop customer relationship techniques, and enhance your leadership skills, all in preparation for supporting customers in your designated territory alongside the sales team. You will play a vital role in consulting with architects, engineers, and building owners on product selections, while also partnering with internal experts to achieve business goals. Your responsibilities will include estimating job bids and preparing proposals in collaboration with contractors, architects, and building owners. You will coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, conduct sales calls to generate new business, and build upon existing relationships. Presenting solutions to customers for consideration, collecting and analyzing market intelligence, and turning projects over to the operations team for execution and installations will also be key components of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate job bids and prepare proposals with contractors, architects, and building owners.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an Engineering Bachelor's degree and graduating in December 2024 or May/June 2025.
  • Strong analytical ability to solve problems and ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cross-functional teams with minimum guidance.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree, strongly preferred.
  • Previous sales or engineering experiences through co-ops, internships, part-time or full-time jobs.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary starting at $56k- $60k base, plus guaranteed commission and sign-on bonus with total compensation of $83k - $87k.
