About the position

As a member of the Johnson Controls team, you will participate in the Early Career Sales Engineering (BEST) Program, a 6-month technical sales development initiative designed for recent college graduates. This program focuses on strategic selling of Johnson Controls' Fire products and services to commercial customers. You will leverage your technical engineering knowledge and business acumen to understand customer needs and provide expert guidance on product and project requirements. The program includes a combination of classroom training, field orientation, and on-the-job training, equipping you with the necessary skills to support customers effectively alongside the sales team. Throughout the program, you will engage with architects, engineers, and building owners to consult on product selections and solutions. You will be an integral part of a local sales team and a national network of sales professionals, contributing to the overall success of the organization. Your role will involve estimating job bids, preparing proposals, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and generating new business through sales calls. You will also collect and analyze market intelligence to inform your strategies and ensure successful project execution by collaborating with the operations team. This position offers a competitive salary starting at $56,000, with additional guaranteed commission and a sign-on bonus, bringing total compensation to approximately $83,000. Responsibilities

  • Participate in a 6-month technical sales development program focusing on Johnson Controls' Fire products and services.
  • Estimate job bids and prepare proposals with contractors, architects, and building owners.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure project success.
  • Complete sales calls to generate new business and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Present solutions to customers for consideration and feedback.
  • Collect and analyze market intelligence to inform sales strategies.
  • Turn projects over to the operations team for execution and installations.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree, graduating in December 2024 or May/June 2025.
  • Strong analytical ability to solve problems and learn quickly.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cross-functional teams with minimal guidance.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree, strongly preferred.
  • Previous sales, engineering, or business experience through co-ops, internships, part-time, or full-time jobs.
