About the position

As a member of the Johnson Controls team, you will participate in the Early Career Sales Engineering (BEST) Program, a 6-month technical sales development initiative designed for recent college graduates. This program focuses on strategic selling of Johnson Controls' HVAC products and services to commercial customers. You will leverage your technical engineering knowledge and business acumen to understand customer needs and provide expert guidance on product and project requirements. The program includes a combination of classroom training, field orientation, and on-the-job training, ensuring you are well-prepared to support customers in your territory alongside the sales team. Throughout the program, you will gain insights into our mechanical equipment and service offerings, develop customer relationship techniques, and enhance your leadership skills. You will be expected to consult with architects, engineers, and building owners regarding product selections, while also collaborating with internal experts to achieve business goals. This role is critical to the local sales team and connects you to a national network of sales professionals, providing a robust foundation for your career in sales engineering. Your responsibilities will include estimating job bids, preparing proposals, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and conducting sales calls to generate new business. You will also present solutions to customers, collect and analyze market intelligence, and facilitate the transition of projects to the operations team for execution and installation.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, construction management, IT, etc.) and graduating in December 2024 or May/June 2025
  • Strong analytical ability to solve problems and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cross-functional teams with minimum guidance
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Nice-to-haves

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree, strongly preferred
  • Previous sales, engineering or business experiences through co-ops, internships, part-time or full-time jobs
