About the position

As a member of the Johnson Controls team, you will be part of a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings. The Early Career Sales Engineering (BEST) Program is designed for recent college graduates and focuses on developing technical sales skills in the HVAC industry. This 6-month program will provide you with the opportunity to leverage your engineering knowledge and business acumen to engage with commercial customers, understanding their product and project needs while serving as a subject matter expert. Throughout the program, you will participate in a comprehensive training and development experience that combines classroom learning, field orientation, and on-the-job training. You will gain insights into our mechanical equipment and service offerings, customer relationship techniques, and essential leadership skills. This preparation will enable you to effectively support customers in your territory alongside the sales team. You will also have the chance to consult with architects, engineers, and building owners on product selections, while partnering with internal experts to achieve business goals. Your role will be critical as part of a local sales team and a national network of sales professionals, contributing to the overall success of Johnson Controls. You will be involved in estimating job bids, preparing proposals, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and generating new business through sales calls. Additionally, you will present solutions to customers, collect and analyze market intelligence, and ensure smooth project transitions to the operations team for execution and installations.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate job bids and prepare proposals with contractors, architects, and building owners

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, construction management, IT, etc.) and graduating in December 2024 or May/June 2025
  • Strong analytical ability to solve problems and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cross-functional teams with minimum guidance
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Nice-to-haves

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree, strongly preferred
  • Previous sales, engineering or business experiences through co-ops, internships, part-time or full-time jobs

  • Competitive salary starting at $56k base plus guaranteed commission and sign-on bonus with total compensation of $83k
