About the position

As a participant in the Early Career Sales Engineering (BEST) Program at Johnson Controls, you will embark on a 6-month service and technical sales development journey designed specifically for recent college graduates. This program is tailored to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively sell Johnson Controls' Security products and services. Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to leverage your technical engineering background and business acumen to engage with customers, helping them understand their product and project needs while establishing yourself as a subject matter expert in the field. The BEST Program combines a comprehensive training curriculum that includes classroom instruction, field orientation, and hands-on job training. You will learn about the full range of offerings from Johnson Controls, develop customer relationship techniques, and enhance your leadership skills. This preparation will enable you to support customers in your designated territory alongside the sales team, ensuring you are well-equipped to consult with architects, engineers, and building owners regarding product selections. You will play a vital role in a local sales team while also being part of a national network of sales professionals, contributing to the overall success of the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for estimating job bids and preparing proposals in collaboration with contractors, architects, and building owners. You will coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, conduct sales calls to generate new business, and build upon existing relationships. Presenting tailored solutions to customers for their consideration will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, as will collecting and analyzing market intelligence to inform your strategies. Once projects are secured, you will turn them over to the operations team for execution and installation, ensuring a seamless transition from sales to service delivery.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent and graduating in December 2024 or May 2025
  • Strong analytical ability to solve problems and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cross-functional teams with minimum guidance
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous sales, engineering or business experiences through co-ops, internships, part-time or full-time jobs
