About the position

The Behavioral Health Associate I plays a crucial role within the multidisciplinary treatment team at The Farley Center. This position is responsible for monitoring client behaviors, providing continuous care and supervision, and assisting in data collection and maintenance. The associate will also respond to crisis situations and medical emergencies, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report client behaviors as part of the treatment team.
  • Provide continuous client care, supervision, and interaction.
  • Assist in client data collection, recording, and maintenance.
  • Respond to crisis situations and medical emergencies as needed.
  • Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision according to individualized guidelines.
  • Check clients for contraband and manage their valuables.
  • Engage clients in recreational activities and promote interest in treatment goals.
  • Facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups on various topics.
  • Take and record vital signs, communicating changes to the charge nurse.
  • Document client records accurately and timely.
  • Apply de-escalation techniques to manage client emotions and behavior.
  • Assist with unit cleaning and organization of client charts.
  • Initiate client/employee incident reports as necessary.
  • Provide transportation for clients or coordinate with staff.
  • Provide verbal reports to the oncoming shift.
  • Orient new clients to the program and encourage participation.
  • Maintain awareness of clients' needs and motivate them towards beneficial activities.
  • Assist with activity planning and resource organization for recreational activities.
  • Enforce safety rules and modify activities to suit client needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six months or more experience working with the specific population preferred.
  • Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire).
  • First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with dual diagnosis treatment preferred.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic recreation programs.
