About the position

The BI Data Engineering Manager at McLane Company is responsible for leading the BI Data Engineering team to create and maintain an efficient data infrastructure that enhances productivity and supports business goals. This hybrid role requires collaboration with various teams to implement innovative data solutions and ensure the stability and security of data systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, and deployment of emerging tools and processes for analytics data engineering.
  • Maintain a flexible and responsive data infrastructure that meets business productivity needs.
  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines adhering to ELT principles.
  • Solve complex data problems to deliver insights that help the business achieve its goals.
  • Create data products for engineering, analyst, and data scientist teams to enhance productivity.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and businesses to engineer effective features for modeling.
  • Develop and deliver communication and education plans on analytic data engineering capabilities and standards.
  • Implement and validate Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity procedures for data environments.
  • Provide Root Cause Analysis for system issues impacting business operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of managerial experience with budget and purchase execution responsibility.
  • Five or more years of experience in data analysis, modeling, reporting, and data governance with structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience designing and maintaining data warehouses and/or data lakes using big data technologies like Spark/Databricks, Redshift, and Snowflake.
  • Experience building and deploying data pipelines following modern data engineering best practices.
  • Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals and development tools such as Git, CI/CD, and JIRA.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and Bash/Z shell.
  • Experience with cloud database technologies and developing solutions in the data and analytics space.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of machine learning, data science, and applied mathematics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Azure cloud services.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
