About the position

The Business Intelligence Developer at Phelps Health is responsible for analyzing data, creating specifications, and writing reports for various applications. This role involves collaborating with Epic application coordinators and end users to understand their reporting needs, ensuring data integrity, and providing technical guidance during project development.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and documents functional requirements and technical specifications for reports, dashboards, and metrics.
  • Utilizes Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, and SQL to meet end user needs.
  • Assesses and maintains reporting needs through investigations and evaluations.
  • Receives and documents formal requests from end users, ensuring completeness and finalization of requests.
  • Maintains data integrity and quality control of delivered reports, validating system builds and report designs.
  • Provides technical direction and assistance during project development.
  • Assists Epic analysts with extract file transfers and maintains third-party vendor data requests.
  • Recommends changes to guidelines, standards, and methodologies as appropriate.
  • Assists end users with quality assurance testing and documentation of results.
  • Prepares documentation to manage reports library and track project progress.
  • Participates in meetings with various stakeholders, documenting key points and decisions.
  • Communicates complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and prioritizes multiple activities in a changing environment.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a related field or 2+ years of related experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, SQL querying, and relational database concepts.
  • One year of experience in developing Business Intelligence report writing systems and data analytics within a healthcare organization.
  • Certification in Epic Clarity preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Software development experience in Visual Basic for Applications is preferred.
  • One year of working knowledge of HIS systems (Meditech, eCW, or EPIC) is a plus.
