About the position

The BI Development Internship at UNDP offers a stimulating opportunity for individuals interested in business intelligence and data visualization. Interns will assist in developing BI reports, building data pipelines, and supporting data analysis for project tracking. This role is designed for those who are eager to learn and contribute to a dynamic team in an international environment, while promoting the ITM's strategic framework and ensuring high-quality standards in technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of BI reports using Power BI and SSRS.
  • Assist in building data pipelines to pull data from different data sources.
  • Support the collection, consolidation, and analysis of data for project-tracking and data visualization using Excel, Power BI, and other business intelligence tools.
  • Assist in providing end user trainings on Power BI.
  • Participate in translation of user requirements into user stories.
  • Support the development of quality software practicing international coding standards.
  • Promote the ITM's overall ICT strategic framework and work plan.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme or in the final academic year of a first university degree programme.
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree in IT Technician/Software Developer, Computer Science, Business Management, or related fields.
  • Experience or knowledge in BI development, Computer Science, or Business Management is required.
  • Good knowledge of dashboards and report development.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Power BI is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Office 365 tools such as Planner, Teams, and OneDrive is a distinct advantage.
  • Good knowledge of Data Science principles and hands-on experience with SQL is an advantage.
  • Experience with relational databases and XML is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Salesforce, and ServiceNow cloud platforms is an advantage.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.

  • Interest in developing business data visualization tools.
  • Understanding of customer-oriented service delivery with a focus on innovative enterprise ICT solutions.
  • Interest and motivation in working in an international organization.
  • Ability to translate IT technology to business users in non-technical language.
  • Understanding of data management, including real-time/streaming data and data warehousing.
