About the position

The Big Data Cloud Architect will lead the architecture design of the Quality Management Platform, focusing on event monitoring. This role requires close collaboration with development segments within the Data Fabric Data Services (DFDS) organization to guide the design and implementation of the data quality event monitoring system. The architect will partner with Product Owners and the infrastructure organization to define the product roadmap, select tools/products, and provide architecture design, including proof of concept (POC) for the solution. In this position, you will lead moderately large or complex projects, ensuring the successful rollout of applications. You will determine and develop aligned recommended architectural approaches while documenting current systems. As a technical architecture expert, you will assist project teams in estimating architecture design efforts and in developing, reviewing, and approving architecture designs. You will also advise project teams on the application of standards and methodology practices relevant to the project. Effective communication is key, as you will need to validate programmer architecture with technology and business executive-level stakeholders. Your role will require a broad and deep understanding of technical concepts across multiple specialized fields to develop solutions to problems and address critical design issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead moderately large or complex projects and ensure the success of application rollouts.
• Determine and develop aligned recommended architectural approaches and document current systems.
• Serve as a technical architecture expert for software development and infrastructure teams.
• Assist project teams in estimating the architecture design effort and in developing, reviewing, and approving architecture designs.
• Advise project teams on the application of standards and methodology practices to the project.
• Communicate and validate programmer architecture with Technology and Business executive-level stakeholders.
• Use a broad and deep understanding of technical concepts in multiple specialized fields to develop solutions to problems and critical design issues.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent job experience required.
• Over 7 years of experience working in technology-based positions with over 5 years building, designing, and maintaining enterprise-class applications.
• 3+ years of experience developing and/or administering software in the public cloud (Google Cloud Platform strongly preferred but AWS considered).
• Deep knowledge and experience with core Java and/or Python development and other languages including Ruby, Bash, Go, Perl, JavaScript, and Node.js.
• Experience in monitoring infrastructure and application uptime and availability to ensure functional and performance objectives.
• Demonstrable cross-functional knowledge with systems, storage, networking, security, and databases.
• Experience with multiple OSS frameworks and microservice implementation styles.
• Experience with message-driven application development (pub-sub, Kafka) and event-driven microservice implementation.
• Proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling and practices.

Nice-to-haves

• Cloud Certification Strongly Preferred.
• Experience designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems utilizing cloud computing technologies like Data Flow (strongly preferred).
• Demonstrated experience working with very large data sets with Big Query and knowledge of big data processing, batch and streaming (strongly preferred).
• Broad experience with large amounts of data associated with entities such as persons or businesses, preferably with Equifax data assets (strongly preferred).
• Experience with leading development teams.
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services and data visualization tools (strongly preferred).
• A solid grasp of regulations and security requirements governing access to data in Big Data systems.
• Sound understanding of Insight (or other related) delivery systems for batch, streaming, and online.
• A real passion for and the ability to learn new technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, engaging with team members at various levels, including business leaders, internal customers, and product management.
• Ability to share ideas among a collaborative team and drive the team based on technical expertise and learning, sharing standard methodologies.
