About the position

The Big Data Principal Engineer is a senior-level role focused on establishing and implementing application systems within Retail Risk Engineering. This position aims to lead systems analysis and engineering activities, ensuring the integration of functions to meet organizational goals and drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals and identify necessary system enhancements.
• Resolve high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes and industry standards.
• Provide expertise in applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow to develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of business areas, such as architecture and infrastructure, to accomplish business goals.
• Provide in-depth analysis to define issues and develop innovative solutions.
• Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
• Assess risk when making business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and managing control issues with transparency.

Requirements

• 6-10 years of Big Data engineering experience
• 3-4 years of Agile delivery methodology experience
• Extensive experience in system analysis and programming of software applications
• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of Retail Credit Risk Applications Development

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in Java and/or J2EE
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
• Exposure to Public Cloud (AWS or GCP)
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
