About the position

The Special Education Resource Paraprofessional at Big Woods Elementary is responsible for supporting students with disabilities in achieving their academic, behavioral, and physical goals as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role involves working under the direction of special education teachers and may include both individual and small group settings. The position requires maintaining confidentiality and adhering to educational standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities in meeting their academic, behavioral, and physical needs as identified in their IEPs.
• Work under the direction of special education and classroom teachers.
• Support students in both individual and small group settings.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and family information as required under FERPA.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Two years of post-secondary education or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and an educational team.
• Previous experience working with students or adults with disabilities is preferred.

Nice-to-haves
