About the position

The Bilingual Behavioral Health Counselor is a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, responsible for providing clinical services to children and families in the community. This role requires fluency in both Spanish and English, and involves planning, developing, coordinating, and delivering treatment using evidence-based practices. The counselor will also provide education, consultation, and crisis intervention services to clients and their families, ensuring a culturally responsive approach to care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective and efficient clinical services using evidence-based practice models to eligible children and families.
  • Complete and maintain all required clinical and administrative records in a timely manner.
  • Provide outreach services to clients and their caregivers.
  • Participate in team meetings in home, community, and office settings.
  • Collaborate with schools, social service agencies, and other providers to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Build teams utilizing natural supports to support families in WISe.
  • Educate and support clients' families and advocate for clients' rights and preferences.
  • Consult with families and community agencies to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
  • Provide crisis intervention counseling and coordinate with crisis responders when appropriate.
  • Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings.
  • Provide information to clients on substance use issues and coordinate treatment with substance use providers.
  • Assist clients with gaining resources and education to support their autonomy and basic needs.
  • Facilitate therapeutic and recreational groups for youth and families enrolled in services.

Requirements

  • Bilingual: Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of job-related experience in direct treatment of persons with mental illness or emotional disturbance.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.
  • Licensure: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Enrollment in continuing education in pursuit of a master's level degree in a social services related field.
  • Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational services, or substance abuse treatment.
