About the position

The Bilingual Case Manager at El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO) plays a crucial role in providing support and resources to individuals experiencing chronic homelessness. This position involves engaging with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized case plans, and coordinate services that promote self-sufficiency and permanent housing. The Case Manager will work collaboratively with community partners and other agencies to facilitate access to essential services, ensuring a trauma-informed and respectful approach in all interactions. The role requires a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable populations, with a focus on building relationships and fostering community awareness about available resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respectful engagement to adults with histories of chronic homelessness, serious psychiatric disabilities, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Conduct interviews with clients for the Coordinated Entry Program and input information into data systems in a timely manner.
  • Develop individualized case plans with long-term and short-term goals and objectives.
  • Monitor compliance with goals through regular contact (weekly client meetings).
  • Advocate for clients with agencies and service providers to minimize barriers to receiving needed services.
  • Establish relationships with local housing agencies, property management companies, and private landlords to secure housing for clients.
  • Assist clients in developing a savings and budget plan in preparation for independent living.
  • Maintain a client caseload of up to 30 cases at a time and complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and collaborate with other departments to support client relationships.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred depending on experience.
  • Minimum of one to two years' experience in health and human services.
  • Valid California Driver's License and reliable vehicle with proof of insurance.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with diverse populations facing challenges in mental health, domestic violence, and trauma-informed care.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Office Suite, including WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint.
