About the position

The Bilingual Community/Parent Liaison I position at Clayton County Public Schools is designed to enhance parent, family, and community involvement within the assigned school. The role focuses on training parents and facilitating communication between families and the school, particularly for language minority parents. The liaison will provide interpretation and translation services, conduct workshops, and assist with the enrollment of immigrant and English Learner (EL) students.

Responsibilities

• Provides interpretation and translation services for language minority parents.
• Serves as a liaison between parents and schools.
• Teaches parent classes and workshops related to Title III/EL student achievement.
• Makes presentations to schools and departments concerning cultural issues.
• Assists with the enrollment of immigrant and EL students at the International Center and local schools.
• Builds partnerships between families, schools, and the community.
• Participates in required professional learning activities.
• Participates in planning and development of reports.
• Maintains and updates department logs and other required documents/reports.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
• Passed the language proficiency ACTFL assessments at the Advanced-Mid level or higher.
• Minimum of three (3) years of bilingual (Spanish) and bicultural experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of working with parents/families and community members preferred.
• Prior experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing with parents, schools, and community personnel.
• Valid driver's license required.
