About the position

The Bilingual Family Assessment Clinician at Wellmore Behavioral Health is responsible for providing intensive family assessment intervention responses to families affected by intimate partner violence. This role involves crisis intervention, counseling, parent education, skill building, and advocacy, while ensuring services align with the family's values and circumstances. The clinician will work across multiple locations, including Waterbury, Torrington, and Danbury, and will be supervised by the IPV-Fair Program Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of clinical, concrete, and advocacy services to family members exposed to intimate partner violence.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with family members.
  • Motivate families and employ motivation enhancement strategies.
  • Conduct comprehensive, strength-focused assessments, including trauma screening.
  • Utilize the Fathers for Change and Mothers and More clinical curricula to enhance parenting communication skills.
  • Provide interventions such as safety planning, counseling, and parent education.
  • Collaborate with family members to develop intervention goals and service plans.
  • Advocate for and coordinate concrete goods and services related to family goals.
  • Teach family members to advocate for themselves and meet their own needs.
  • Assess goal progress and families' ongoing needs.
  • Adhere to clinical components in the IPV-FAIR model as outlined in the DCF Scope of Service.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with families.
  • CT license as a mental health provider at the associate level (LMSW, LPCA, LMFTA).
  • Commitment to the IPV-FAIR model.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (speak, read, write, and translate).
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Valid CT driver's license and vehicle in good working condition.
  • Automobile liability insurance that meets minimum agency requirements.
  • Familiarity with Word, e-mail, and Internet.
