About the position

Alliance Center for Education is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Bilingual Family Engagement Specialist. The primary responsibility of the Family Engagement Specialist is to assist families in their homes or communities in promoting Head Start's Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework. This role involves working closely with families to enhance the quality of family life while connecting them to appropriate community resources for service utilization. The Family Engagement Specialist will also play a crucial role in outreach and recruitment efforts to maintain funded enrollment of age-eligible children in all programs. This position requires flexibility and reliable transportation to effectively engage with families in various settings. The Family Engagement Specialist will create and maintain positive working relationships with parents, providing regular feedback on their child's ongoing developmental successes and challenges. They will assist parents in actively participating in parent training, volunteering in classrooms, and engaging in parent groups and Policy Council activities. Additionally, the Specialist will serve as a liaison between parents, the Center Manager, teachers, and community partners, offering feedback on parent issues and priorities. Regular supervision with a supervisor will be part of the role, along with providing updates on family engagement activities. Staying current on knowledge of standards and program-related information is essential for success in this position. The Family Engagement Specialist will also be responsible for data entry for record-keeping and reporting to meet relevant guidelines. This role is vital in ensuring that families are supported and connected to the resources they need to thrive, ultimately contributing to the success of the Head Start program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist families in their homes or community to promote Head Start's PFCE Framework.
  • Work with families to improve the quality of family life and connect them to community resources.
  • Engage in outreach and recruitment to maintain funded enrollment of age-eligible children.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with parents and provide feedback on their child's development.
  • Assist parents in participating in training, volunteering, and parent groups.
  • Act as a liaison between parents, Center Manager, teachers, and community partners.
  • Participate in regular supervision and provide updates to supervisors.
  • Stay current on knowledge of standards and program-related information.
  • Enter data for record-keeping and reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with families.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Human Services, or Child and Family Development.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Head Start policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required; Spanish fluency preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic technological tools such as laptops, desktop computers, emails, smartphones, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Reliable transportation to visit client homes and community locations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet family needs.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to de-escalate parent concerns.
  • Current knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to enter and analyze family data.
