About the position

This position supports the operational management team and surrounding departments in the Fallston, Maryland region by planning and managing all phases of human resources activities, including recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations. The role is crucial for the growth of Allan Myers, requiring a strong, organized, and personable professional to meet the people needs of the business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full scope of recruiting activities, including working with managers on their hiring needs, posting requisitions, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and writing and sending offer letters.
  • Utilize the applicant tracking system to manage all candidates from application to onboarding.
  • Attend recruiting events and represent Allan Myers in a professional manner while accurately sharing opportunities and our EVP with candidates.
  • Vet candidates at events and conduct follow up with candidates for next steps.
  • Schedule and conduct new hire orientation along with explanation of benefits.
  • Coordinate with new hires on details of their employment, start date, job location(s), and supervisors prior to their first day.
  • Ensure all pre-employment paperwork is completed.
  • Administer Business Unit Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, performance reviews, and return to work documentation (STD, Military, etc.).
  • Support business unit operational managers and Human Resources with issues regarding employee relations.
  • Maintain HRIS records and compile reports from database.
  • Process unemployment claims.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, legislation and total alignment to all Allan Myers processes and programs.
  • Provide direction and guidance in support of Allan Myers' values and standards.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum 1-4 years of Human Resource experience
  • Strong software skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to work well in a deadline driven environment
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding compensation and sensitive employee relation situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Highly motivated, willing to learn and take on new responsibilities as provided
  • Must be able to represent Allan Myers in a professional manner and conduct all work in accordance to company policy and procedure
  • Ability to work in outside construction environment with possible exposure to elements (heat, cold, rain)
